Chesapeake Window Shades is a fabricator and wholesaler, specializing in custom roller shades and other hard window treatments. Located in Southern Maryland, Chesapeake Window Shades is owned and operated by Monty Cornwell. His knowledge and experience goes all the way back seventy plus years. Monty’s father, Montgomery “Ducky” Cornwell, began making roller shades in the 1940’s at The Shade Shop located in Washington D.C. when he was just 16 years old. It was there that he met his soon-to-be-wife Doris. In the early 1970’s “Ducky and Dottie” started Sylva Shade Shop in their home.
Monty’s hands-on experience began as soon as he was big enough to help. Monty has been around and involved in window treatments his entire life. With the knowledge and experience from working with his parents and other endeavors, including installing experience with Pat Baker, one of the best installers in the Washington D.C. area, Chesapeake Window Shades continues the legacy, and strives to always stay connected to the trends of modern day.
